We Belong

Our Community Guidelines

We Belong because we show up for one another.

Moving to a new country is an adventure, but building a life here takes more than finding a place to live or a job to do. It takes people. People who understand the journey, open doors, share what they've learned and make a new place feel like home. We Belong exists to bring those people together. Our community is built on genuine connection, generosity, trust and the belief that we all have something valuable to contribute. Here's how we make that happen.

1. We Show Up

We make a genuine effort to be there for one another.

If we offer to help, make an introduction or follow up on a request, we do our best to follow through. We respect each other's time, commitments and trust.

We understand that life gets busy. If circumstances change, we communicate.

2. We Pay It Forward

We don't just ask what the community can do for us. We look for ways to contribute, too.

That might mean sharing a useful contact, offering advice, recommending a service, welcoming a new member or helping someone navigate something we've experienced ourselves.

You don't need to have all the answers or be able to help everyone. Small acts of generosity can make a meaningful difference.

3. We Respect One Another

We welcome people with different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives and ambitions.

We communicate with kindness, act with integrity and treat every member with dignity.

Harassment, bullying, discrimination, intimidation and deliberately harmful behaviour have no place in We Belong.

4. We Protect Trust

A strong community depends on feeling safe enough to connect.

We respect personal boundaries and the privacy of fellow members. We don't share private conversations, personal contact details, confidential information or another member's story without appropriate permission.

If someone shares a request or asks for help, we treat that request with discretion and care.

5. We Make Meaningful Connections

We believe in introductions with intention.

When connecting people, we consider their interests, goals and circumstances. We ask permission before sharing someone's contact details or making an introduction where appropriate.

We respect a person's right to decline an introduction, opportunity or request without pressure or obligation.

6. We Keep It Genuine

We Belong is a community, not a database of contacts to exploit.

We don't use membership to spam people, aggressively sell products or services, harvest personal information or pursue unsolicited commercial opportunities.

Business connections are welcome when they are relevant, respectful and built on genuine mutual interest.

7. We Own Our Impact

We take responsibility for how we communicate and how our actions affect others.

If something goes wrong, we aim to address it respectfully and constructively. We listen, communicate honestly and remain open to feedback.

Nobody gets everything right all the time. What matters is how we respond.

8. We Help Make Australia Home

We all have different stories, experiences and reasons for making the move.

We celebrate those differences while building something we share: a community where people can find friendship, opportunity, support and a genuine sense of belonging.

Whether you've just arrived or have been here for years, there's room to contribute, connect and help someone else feel at home.

What Happens When Guidelines Aren't Followed?

We take the safety and integrity of our community seriously.

If behaviour falls short of these guidelines, we may contact the member involved, address the concern, restrict participation or suspend or terminate membership, depending on the circumstances and the seriousness of the issue.

If you experience or witness behaviour that concerns you, please contact us at hello@webelong.au. We will consider concerns thoughtfully and handle them as discreetly as reasonably possible.

A Community Is What We Make It

We Belong isn't built on the idea that one organisation can do everything for everyone. It's built on what becomes possible when people show up for one another.

A thoughtful introduction. A generous answer. A door opened. A friendship formed.

That's how we build community. That's how we help each other belong.

We're glad you're here.
